Activities & Outings

At Busy Bodies, we have a regular schedule of activities that educators can take their care children to. This is a great way for the children to interact with each other, learn and practice new skills and have lots of fun at our Preschool, as well as learning about their community and environment in a relaxed way.

Busy Bodies Play Room / Music and Movement

The Play Room at the Busy Bodies HQ in Courtville Place is specifically set up with a range of activities including arts & crafts, music and movement, messy play, books, and a range of toys to suit all ages. Our weekly playgroup, facilitated by a visiting teacher, is a combination of structured activity and free play.  We also hold a weekly session of music and movement that covers repetition, simple sound, body movement, cross body movements and of course heaps of singing and fun so everybody leaves in high spirits. This is a chance for children to interact with others in a large group setting.

Drop In Gym

The Invercargill Gymnastics Club opens its doors to 0-5year olds several times a week and provides a fantastic opportunity for the little ones to practice all their balancing, bouncing, swinging, jumping and sliding skills in a safe padded area. A great option throughout the winter and really boosts the childrens’ confidence!

Bush Buddies

Every fortnight the educators and children have the opportunity to come to Bush Buddies. This is held in a different location each term. Children are able to explore their natural environment and talk about some of their working theories about how their world works.

Nature Walks

Busy Bodies Leaves in the parkWith so many fantastic and accessible parks and walkways in Invercargill, Busy Bodies children get to enjoy the outdoors both as scheduled group outings and spontaneous trips by educators particularly in the Spring and Autumn when the colours are so vibrant. This is a great opportunity to get a bit muddy, splash in puddles, collect leaves, branches, pine cones or anything else that they come across.

Play ground visit & picnic at Anderson or Queens Park

Queens Park and Anderson Park are two great parks with lots of space to run around and, of course, fantastic playgrounds. Educators arrange many trips during the summer months and it provides a lovely, safe environment for the children to play together, challenge themselves climbing the play equipment and having a picnic lunch. The infants love to be out in the fresh air and watch the bigger children play!

Sports Days, Santa Picnic, Pet Days  and more…..

Xmas 2013 157Throughout the year there are a range of other events such as the Santa picnic at Christmas. Loads of fun for everyone and parents are most welcome to join in the fun if they are available!
