Activities & Outings

At Busy Bodies, we have a regular schedule of activities that educators can take their care children to. This is a great way for the children to interact with each other in a larger group. Learn and practice new skills and have lots of fun, as well as learning about their community and environment in a relaxed way.

Bush Buddies

Every fortnight the educators and children have the opportunity to come to Bush Buddies. This is held in a different location each term. Children are able to explore their natural environment and talk about some of their working theories about how their world works.

Nature Walks

Busy Bodies Leaves in the parkWith so many fantastic and accessible parks and walkways in Invercargill, Busy Bodies children get to enjoy the outdoors both as scheduled group outings and spontaneous trips by educators particularly in the Spring and Autumn when the colours are so vibrant. This is a great opportunity to get a bit muddy, splash in puddles, collect leaves, branches, pine cones or anything else that they come across.

Play ground visit & picnic at Anderson or Queens Park

Queens Park and Anderson Park are two great parks with lots of space to run around and, of course, fantastic playgrounds. Educators arrange many trips during the summer months and it provides a lovely, safe environment for the children to play together, challenge themselves climbing the play equipment and having a picnic lunch. The infants love to be out in the fresh air and watch the bigger children play!

Playgroup

Every fortnight we run a playgroup at the Otatara church hall. This is an excellent opportunity for our tamariki to experience a larger group setting and to extend their confidence and social skills. There is a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities for them to choose from in a safe environment.
